The GAP Program

The GAP program leads you through the university research and application process in a timely manner. You are provided with an individualized application plan and fully informed on all aspects of the research and application process through one-on-one meetings, regular updates, and email communication. You get access to comprehensive presentations on how to research and apply to university systems around the world. You are given assignments to work on after each presentation so that you can put into practice the ideas and strategies shared with you. We help you identify your personal research criteria and we propose universities that are a good fit for you in countries of your choice. We may also provide guidance on scholarship opportunities, Division I-III athletics in the US, applying to Oxford, Cambridge, and Medicine/Dentistry/Veterinary Science.

Grade 9/10 Program

The Global Access Pathways (GAP) College Counseling Program for Grade 9 focuses extensively on self-discovery and foundational planning. The First Semester guides students to understand that university applications showcase personality and growth beyond grades, to create a four-year high school plan that tells a story, and to define their identity using a Cultural Map and Values Assessment. The Second Semester builds on this by having students identify their VIA character strengths and personality preferences (e.g., MBTI) before synthesizing this self-knowledge to set actionable S.M.A.R.T. goals and plan a meaningful summer that aligns with their personal development.
The program then shifts in Grade 10 to intentional academic planning and initial career exploration. The First Semester’s core theme is course selection for Grades 11 and 12, which is presented as key “evidence” for university applications. Students update their 4-Year Plan (Version 2.0) and evaluate their potential course choices for “personal fit” by connecting them back to the values, strengths, and personality assessments completed in Grade 9. The Second Semester transitions to career exploration using tools like Maia Learning, investigating global university admission requirements and prerequisites, and finally synthesizing all research to draft a final, rationale-driven Grade 11/12 course plan. This year concludes with setting super-curricular S.M.A.R.T. goals for the summer and kicking off the University Research Project to identify “early-match” universities.
